The problem
Magnetic measurements contain orientation effects, drift and local interference that can be mistaken for a change caused by an object or material.
02 / Engineering
The approach
Characterize the sensor and baseline environment, record repeatable controlled changes, and compare filtering or differential-measurement approaches while reporting uncertainty.
A proposed magnetometer-based study of local field variations in controlled laboratory or educational surveying experiments. Sensor offset, orientation, nearby electronics and environmental drift would need to be characterized before interpreting a change as a meaningful anomaly.
